Devils Claw (Harpagophytum procumbens) also known as grapple plant and wood spider, is native to the South African region and named so due to the unusual claw like appearance of the hooked fruit it produces.

The root of this herb has been used to treat lower back pain for centuries and although little scientific study has been done, it has been found to be more effective than placebo - which is a good start! In fact this herb is mostly known as a 'pain treatment' herb.

Any condition such as arthritis, muscle pain and even gastrointestinal or gout issues which produce inflammation and thus some resulting pain may benefit from drinking this herb. The list is of common uses for this herb is a little too long to include here, so we encourage our readers to do their own research.

Devils Claw natural pain relief

This tea is a bit hard to swallow (I made it too strong initially), but it works a treat. I took this in capsule form on advice from a very wise occupational therapist many years ago prior to major joint surgery. . I buy from Tealife because of ALL of the below not just the tea descriptions, great service Australian and organic etc.

Hi Pam, thank you for your review! This is a fairly new but often requested addition to Tea Life so I'm happy you're finding this one useful.

Proven pain relieving herb

Devil's Claw is known for it's powerful pain relieving qualities. The tea certainly doesn't taste delicious, in fact it is quite bitter. Possibly it is best to drink it in combination with other teas, though as yet I haven't experimented with tea combinations. However, if it relieves painful symptoms then the taste doesn't really matter.

Did reduce my inflammation

It's still not perfect but it has surprisingly helped to reduce the inflammation in my back as good as antiinflam meds did so i'm quite happy with this tea and will continue to purchase.

    Amazing Peach Tea ever!!!!!

I love it as soon as I open package. The shipment was super fast. It said it may take 3-7days average but it arrived just in 2 days. The scent of the tea is very amazing, the smell of the tea blended with peach it makes me feel so relaxed and drinking it delicious. 1000% worth the money.I will definitely continue purchasing your products. Thank you for your services.

Hi Jolie - I'm glad that arrived in time. We've actually changed $2 shipping to be $3 shipping now in order to be able to place a priority sticker on it - which SHOULD make them all as fast as you got yours. Really happy to get some reviews going for these fruit teas as they're fairly new here - much appreciated!
    Tea Life - Tea LOVE

I'd been looking for high quality loose-leaf organic herb teas for ages - with little success. I stumbled across the Tea Life website one day, phoned with a bunch of questions - and placed my first order. I've not looked back - and as a result still have many boxes of unused organic tea bags in the pantry!!! It's hard to go back to tea bags. Everything about dealing with this company is delightful, right down to the educational content on their website - and the gorgeous messaging on their post bags!!! My current 'tea crush' is Melissa... but I like to order a 'new' one to try each time I stock up on my staples like Green, Sencha, Lemongrass, etc.

Hi Jenny - I also feel a bit odd using tea bags now, they're quite different for many reasons. We're usually well stocked on Melissa as a large perfume company in America buys a lot from us occasionally so we can't be caught out when those orders do come through. If you'd ever like suggestions on what to try next please let me know!
    Gymnema Tea Taste

Thankyou for my order. It came nice and quick and was fulfilled. I just have one question, and that's why does Gymnema Tea taste so bad? and am I using it incorrectly? should I be mixing it with other teas and in smaller amounts?
    Kind regards

Hi Lindsey, thanks for your review! Gymnema is really naturally very bitter, with it normally being consumed for health purposes. A bit more on this here: https://www.sweetdefeat.com/blog/gymnema-sylvestre The best counter to this is normally honey - which we'd recommend with most herbal teas that are bitter or odd. It can be difficult to get across the taste when selling herbal teas, as we'll be the first to admit that some don't taste great! I'll also send through an edit request as you probably don't want your email listed on our website! :)
    Pau D'arco

Great experience purchasing from Tea Life! Affordable shipping and very prompt with their orders!
Still getting used to the taste of Pau D'arco but I know it's great for me so I'm experimenting with mixing teas :)

Hi Sara, thanks for your review! There's always no harm in adding honey too if that helps a bit!
    Jasmine dreams

I wasn't sure what to expect when I first heard of these little gems. I'd seen them in the cups of others in fancy brunch style restaurants. But I tell you that though it feels like a novelty watching it's pettles unfold into into bloom it tastes even better. I feel this one tastes like a mix of Buda's tears with a very floral almost apricot taste. I wasn't let down it's amazing.

Hi Casey, thanks for your amazing review - and very happy to see some start to come through for the blooming teas as they're fairly new here and lacking feedback! Much appreciated and glad you're happy with this one.
