Way back in the 1920s, some rumors started to circulate from within the forests of Ontario Canada about a tea that can help fight against certain conditions.

A nurse going by the name of Renee Caisse was purportedly the holder of a secret tea blend she had discovered - of which she protected up until just before her death...

While we won't claim this tea will fight/prevent cancer as some others do, this combination of herbs does have a very good level of antioxidants, along with compounds within this blend proven to have a protective mechanism to help prevent DNA damage/degradation and positively affect the immune system.

  • Burdock Root
  • Slippery Elm
  • Turkish Rhubarb
  • Sheep Sorrel

Please note our Blend is freshly ground in-house and is a fairly heavy grind, therefore the appearance of 50g is not a huge amount.

Brewing

This one is a little different to your usual pour and go teas.

  1. 17 grams for every 500ml of water
  2. Add to boiling water in the pot for 10 mins
  3. Leave covered overnight
  4. The next day bring it to steaming, but not a boil
  5. Let it cool again - and it's ready
  6. Normally 30ml is consumed each time on an empty stomach twice a day.
  7. After this, it should be kept refrigerated and consumed within the week.
  8. When drinking, feel free to add 60ml water to water down

Taste Profile

Aroma: It is earthy, herbal and slightly woody with a soft root sweetness.

Taste: The flavors are mild, earthy, and slightly bitter-sweet, with burdock's rootiness, rhubarb sweetness, and sheep sorrel light herbal sharpness, balanced by slippery elm's smoothness.

Mouthfeel: Silky smooth, slightly thickened from slippery elm, with a mild herbal body.

Finish: Clean, earthy & slightly tangy with herbal dryness lingering.

Liquor colour: Pale brown to dark amber.

Lovely with: A dash of honey, ginger, marshmallow root, or blended with peppermint for a lighter finish.

Is it caffeinated?
Nope - Essiac is a herbal infusion and contains no caffeine.

Are there added flavours or sugars?
No - this blend is pure herbs. Check the ingredients list for confirmation.

Does it get reheated?
Yes, reheat gently if the pre-brewed. avoid boiling. Or eat it cold. Refrigerate immediately and consume within 24 hours.

How do I store it, and how long does it keep?
Keep cool, dry, and away from light, store it airtight. Best used within 18-24 months for best aroma and potency.

How much is shipping?

Couriers Please Shipping is $5.95 for orders under $60 and free for all orders over $60.

Australia Post is always at cost. Orders going to Po Box or Parcel Locker address may be locked in to Australia Post.

What are your transit times?

We dispatch within 24-48 hours (sometimes much faster) and from there we'll see 1-3 days transit to most metro locations within Australia excluding WA and NT which can take a week or so.

We also offer express post which will help speed up the process, at cost with no handling fees. These are always sent as priority and packed first.

Are there any discounts available?

We're quite generous with our loyalty programs, and the best way to take advantage of them is to create an account here. Also if you subscribe to our newsletter you'll gain access to members only discounts, rewards and an initial 10% off first order.

Are your teas certified organic?

Up until recently we were certified organic but due to rising administration costs and the difficulty of maintaining certification we've put this on hold for now. Our suppliers and farms remain the same without any change but just now label things are organic, pesticide free or wildcrafted.

This also allows us to maintain our current pricing without any increases which we feel is more important at this time.
