Nestled along Taiwans coast lies Taitung—a place celebrated for its breathtaking natural landscapes and unspoiled surroundings. With the Pacific Ocean to one side and the Central Mountain Range to the other side, Taitung enjoys a special microclimate that proves perfect for cultivating tea. 

Thanks to its humidity levels rainfall aplenty and volcanic soil rich in minerals Taitung creates an optimal environment for nurturing tea leaves that boast both flavor and nutritional richness.

The Taitung Black Oolong Tea comes from tea gardens perched at elevated locations where the chilly mountain breeze and mist covered mornings contribute to the growth of tea plants.

The unique terroir of Taitung coupled with time honored tea making methods bestows this tea with its quality that distinguishes it from other oolong and black teas.

Brewing

Brewing it right is key! Here's an easy guide to making the perfect cup; 

  1. Use hot water that has just been boiled to around 90 to 95 degrees Celsius (194 to 203 degrees Fahrenheit) ensuring a rich taste without steeping too long. 
  2. When making tea you should aim for 1 teaspoon (equivalent to 2-3 grams) which is suggested for every 200ml of water you use in your brew adjusting the quantity as, per your taste and how strong you want the flavor to be. 
  3. Brewing Time Instructions; Let the tea leaves soak in water for 3 to 5 minutes during the initial brewing process. Taitung Black Oolong Tea is ideal for brewing times as each steeping brings out different flavors. For brews, after the first one you may want to add 30 seconds to a minute more to the steeping time gradually.

Aroma: Flavors: honeyed florals, baked stone fruits, and toasted grains with cocoa.

Taste: Soft & smooth; slightly sweet. Notes of caramel and ripe peach/longan, and roasted nuts.

Mouthfeel: It is silky and has a syrupy body.

Finish: Clean and mildly spicy with honey-cocoa notes.

Liquor colour: Colors range from clear amber to deep copper.

Lovely with: A dried longan or apricot, dark chocolate square, and lightly salted nuts.

Taiwan TAI-GONG BLACK OOLONG tea - What is it?
An extremely oxidized and medium-roasted oolong of Camellia sinensis of Taitung (Taiwan) is produced. Also known as red oolong - a sweet wine.

Is it caffeinated?
It's a real tea - with less caffeine than coffee.

Does it have flavours or sugars added?
In most cases it is just pure tea leaf without flavours or sugar - check the ingredients list on your pack.

Does it get reheated?
YES - reheat lightly if pre-brewed. avoid boiling. Or enjoy cold. Refrigerate immediately & eat within 24 hours.

How do I store it?
Keep it airtight, dry and away from light. Ideally, between 18-24 months for the best aroma and color.

How much is shipping?

Couriers Please Shipping is $5.95 for orders under $60 and free for all orders over $60.

Australia Post is always at cost. Orders going to Po Box or Parcel Locker address may be locked in to Australia Post.

What are your transit times?

We dispatch within 24-48 hours (sometimes much faster) and from there we'll see 1-3 days transit to most metro locations within Australia excluding WA and NT which can take a week or so.

We also offer express post which will help speed up the process, at cost with no handling fees. These are always sent as priority and packed first.

Are your teas certified organic?

Up until recently we were certified organic but due to rising administration costs and the difficulty of maintaining certification we've put this on hold for now. Our suppliers and farms remain the same without any change but just now label things are organic, pesticide free or wildcrafted.

This also allows us to maintain our current pricing without any increases which we feel is more important at this time.
