It is common knowledge that humans need water. It regulates our body temperature, plays an important role in eliminating waste, aids in digestion, and delivers nutritional elements that the body needs. In fact, an adult human’s body is up to 50 to 60% water (body water percentage actually depends on our sex and age).   Without it, we will simply die. Majority of people recognize how important it is, but many of them also fail to realize that there is a condition called water retention, where there is an abnormal fluid build-up in the tissues or cavities of the body that can cause weight gain, puffiness and swelling. Usually, it is not fatal, but in some cases, it can be dangerous.  

There are many causes of water retention and treatment of it depends on the root cause. In many cases, abnormal fluid-build up will resolve without medical intervention, but if one wants to speed up recovery, natural diuretics such as our herbal teas may help. These can help the body excrete water and sodium through frequent urination.
