Turmeric Ginger with Pepper Tea

Ginger and Turmeric blended with Black pepper. While tasting great, there's also a reason for this very specific combination. Somehow, and I would love to see the trial and error that went into this - ancient people were very good at creating specific blends for specific needs and purpose.

For example, Adhatoda combined with black pepper has been used since long ago to help treat Asthma. Why add black pepper? Somehow they figured out that this increases the anti-asthmatic properties of the Adhatoda.

Similar magic also happens when combining Turmeric, Ginger and Black Pepper.

Turmeric contains curcumin (which is why Turmeric is yellow), and Black Pepper contains piperine. With only a bit of piperine, the curcumin levels within the blood skyrocket as opposed to not combining with piperine. Piperine actually inhibits the livers process of removing curcumin from the body.

So what is this blend good for? It basically greatly enhances the effectiveness of turmerics already wonderful properties. For a more indepth look, please read our article.

  1. Add around 1 1/2 teaspoons to strainer in hot water. This is a heavy tea.
  2. Steep for 5 minutes with the cup covered.

Common Questions

What should I use per cup?
1 teaspoon of the blend per cup (250 ml) of hot water.

For how long should I steep it?
Soak in 95degC water for 5-10 minutes. Up to 15 minutes of steeping is possible for a stronger, spicier cup.

Reuse it?
And yes - the same blend can often be re-steeped once. The second will be mild but still flavourful.

Does it get reheated?
YES - reheat gently below boiling (70-80 degrees Celsius). Avoid microwaving.

Is it caffeine free?
No. This mix is without caffeine.

Are there flavours or sweeteners added?
No. It contains only pure turmeric, ginger and black pepper - no colours, flavourings or preservatives.

Where do I store it?
Keep cool, dry, and tightly closed away from direct sunlight to preserve aroma and potency.

But why is black pepper added?
Black pepper has piperine, which helps the body absorb the curcumin (active ingredient in turmeric) better.

Add milk or honey?
Yes, adding milk - especially from plants - can make a golden latte brew. Add honey or lemon for balance.

How much is shipping?

Couriers Please Shipping is $5.95 for orders under $60 and free for all orders over $60.

Australia Post is always at cost. Orders going to Po Box or Parcel Locker address may be locked in to Australia Post.

What are your transit times?

We dispatch within 24-48 hours (sometimes much faster) and from there we'll see 1-3 days transit to most metro locations within Australia excluding WA and NT which can take a week or so.

We also offer express post which will help speed up the process, at cost with no handling fees. These are always sent as priority and packed first.

Are your teas certified organic?

Up until recently we were certified organic but due to rising administration costs and the difficulty of maintaining certification we've put this on hold for now. Our suppliers and farms remain the same without any change but just now label things are organic, pesticide free or wildcrafted.

This also allows us to maintain our current pricing without any increases which we feel is more important at this time.
