Cacao Chocolate Husk Tea

Tea Description
Click here to read customer feedback for this tea!

Truth be told, I was blown away the first time I tried this Chocolate Husk tea.
My expectation was a rather light flavour, but a surprising depth of deep natural and organic chocolate taste radiates from just two pinches steeped for a small amount of time.

Artisan (hand) made, these fermeted Cacao beans are roasted under fire and wood chips.
The husk is then removed. The husk is high in magnesium, fibre and potassium - and has the best taste from the whole bean!

    1. Add one heaped teaspoon to strainer and near boiling water

    3. This tea is also wonderful with milk (as you can imagine!).

I love this so much, tastes delicious

Thanks Christine, it's a great tea that can be tricky to get just right with the steeping times but definitely worth trying!

Tasty once you get it right

My first taste of this tea I noticed it was very light even after steeping for 7 minutes. I read on the internet about crushing up the tea to release more flavour so I did this with my hands while it was still in the packet. The next tea I made was much better in flavour. It still is very pale in colour when you add milk. I am unsure if this is what it is supposed to look like? Normal tea goes a brown color even with milk added so I was expecting the same thing to happen with this tea but when I add milk it is more white than brown.

Hi Justine, thanks for your feedback on this tea! Many apologies if there was any confusion on the brewing methods and time for this tea. It's not that easy to infuse with water and does need a bit of a longer steeping time/or crushing them up to help with that as this is essentially the shell of the chocolate bean and not a processed chocolate that will dissolve easily. The taste, while still chocolate, is different in my opinion to what you'd normally experience with a chocolate flavour which is why we like having this unique tea up on Tea Life for something different.

    Interesting chocolate tea

If you’re a dark chocolate fan like me then this is a must try! I got exactly what I was hoping for. It felt like eating a nice dark chocolate bar but only in a fresh, liquid form. :) I recommend it.

Hi Emily, It is a different experience to chocolate that I'd strongly recommend if you're a choco-fan. For me it kind of tastes like going back to the origins of chocolate without all of the sugar and preservatives!

Why buy online with Tea Life? What sets it apart?
We're not just another tea brand.
We focus on Australian grown and organic tea wherever possible.

    • Quality: Australian standards impose strict quality control on tea made within Australia.
    • Freshness: We only pack our tea upon your order. Until that time, it's kept within the bulk of the loose leaf tea. This dramatically increases freshness and taste.

We understand that shipping fees are a little annoying, especially on low cost items such as tea. That's why we offer free shipping on all orders over $60 and $2 for shipping for up to 80g. Stock up on your favourite tea blends at Tea Life and get free shipping throughout the whole of Australia!

    • We're located in Sydney, so please allow some time for delivery based on your location. $2 shipping takes 5-7 days on average but can be much faster. $5.95 shipping is via registered post and takes on average 3 days.

    • We also offer Express Yellow Bag Australia Post at $8.95. If your order is classified as such - we will prioritize your order to ensure it ships same day. Please understand that even though this is classified as 'next day delivery' by Australia Post, sometimes it can fall slightly short of this!

    • For Express, the cut off shipping time is 6pm for Australia Post. We of course need time to pick and pack too! So in general - the earlier an order is placed, the easier it will be for us to make that cut off time. We can guarantee any order will be sent same day if any order is sent prior to 3pm, excluding out of stock items.
    • Express delivery orders are always given priority. In the event we don't have stock of that tea when express post is used, you will be refunded $2 to take the order back down to 3 day shipping - but an express shipping bag will still be used once back in stock.

    Fresh

I was very impressed by the freshness of all the herbal teas I ordered , I’ve yet to see if the hawthorn lowers my blood pressure ..haven’t had it long enough

Hi Nerida, many have seen good results with hawthorn so I hope you will too!
    Great service

    Lady's Mantle Tea

    Just awesome!

I saw these at another company but was dubious of the quality and wasn't interested in paying the ridiculous price. I'm super glad I found them here because that are flat out amazing. I will 100% be buying again when I run out which will probably be soon because I've been sharing them with everyone I know.
Such a unique way to make it, the jasmine scent is beautiful and relaxing and if it didn't taste so nice I would probably just leave a cup out to smell.
I found the taste subtle in a nice way but you wouldn't really want it stronger, unlike the instructions I only use 3 in a cup. Anyhow, I highly recommend! 10 thumbs up.

Hi Matt, thanks for your amazing reviews so far! I think we may be able to do a bit better on the Buddhas tears pricing soon actually, as it's not really where we'd like it to be at just yet. There's a lot of variation in quality in this tea but we're happy with this one too. It's one of my favourites for sure. You really don't need much at all, so try using only 3-4 balls and steeping longer if you're not doing so already.
    uh it looks nice?

I tried this out of curiosity, never had it before and unfortunately wont again. Not a fan! But that's not its fault I just didn't like it, you on the other hand may love it!
Anyhow, for the rest of this review i will judge it technically.
The Matcha itself was very well ground with an even consistency, it was also a very nice colour and looked very fresh.
It mixed in with hot water perfectly and didn't leave any floaties or anything so I imagine this a very clean and well made product.
That's about all I can say, I'm sure it's very good it's just not for me.

I totally agree, this tea isn't for everyone. Make sure trying to add milk if you haven't yet. I think people either love or hate this tea but it's good to at least try once in your life. I'm really sorry this one wasn't for you though! It's always a risk the first time :)
    Packs a punch

This tastes Australian. Imagine sitting out in the bush, middles of the day, small fire by the creek and you take that entire moment and shove it in a pot of water and pour this tea into your cup. I liked it, it was awesome. If I was to change anything it would probably only be to include a brew guide as I sort of approached this with more gusto than I should have and used a tablespoon for one cup, don't do this!

Hi Matt, thanks for your feedback on this tea and the instructions too. We're fairly new and so the easiest way to do things for awhile has been general instructions on the back, with more detailed on the website. This year we should be able to have individual steeping instructions per tea on the back of every kind. There's over 170 different types now, but we'll get there soon. It's a good tea this one though and with both ingredients working really well together :)
